FMCSA does not approve or certify individual ELDs. Instead, ELD providers self-certify that their devices meet the technical specifications in the ELD rule and register the device on FMCSA’s list of registered ELDs. Before choosing a device, confirm it appears on the current FMCSA registered list, verify its software version, and ensure it supports the transfer methods your drivers may need during roadside inspections.
